Sram Red eTap AXS is much more than a simple evolution of its predecessor, it is a revolution, a fully integrated approach to design a groupset that empowers ever more capable riders and the diverse range of bikes that they choose to ride. The Blip box serves as the junction box for communication between Sram Blip buttons and AXS derailleurs. This component is necessary where the Sram Red AXS drop bar shift/brake lever will not form part of the groupset such as a Triathalon or TT bike. Up to two Blip or Clic shifters can be plugged into each side allowing for cross top shifting as well as end of aero bar shifts. The Blip box itself its aerodynamic and is designed as such that it can be mounted in a feedbox, frame, or directly onto the stem using the included faceplate mount. The Sram AXS mobile app allows the rider to personalize how the lever paddles control the groupset on the fly while also being able to view connected feedback on ideal service times and battery levels of all AXS parts. Sram suggest twenty hours shifting battery life on the rear derailleur, in other words enough juice for over 620 miles under typical shifting use, charging in the included cradle takes just one hour. The shift-brake lever takes one CR2032 lithium cell which should provide two years of battery life. Sram have taken a connected approach to all AXS lines meaning that you can pair any of the lever buttons with any other component within the AXS range. This means if you wanted to integrate a drop bar groupset with a Rockshox Reverb dropper seat post on a gravel bike it now as easy as dropping it into your frame and assigning it a button in the app. The rechargeable batteries can also be swapped between components and are exactly the same type with Sram Eagle AXS and Reverb AXS.
